Third generation of Altenburger family

After 20 years, a member of the owner family is returning to the Executive Management in the person of Roland Altenburger. Jürg Koller, former CEO for Switzerland, will be responsible for the company's future growth strategy and internationalisation in his position as Group CEO.

After studying business administration at the University of Zurich, Roland Altenburger worked as business consultant in Frankfurt am Main for five years, where he specialised in process optimisation and system integration for the investment banking sector. In 2014 he was drawn back to the world of perfumes. He trained as a perfumer at LUZI, and most recently also worked in this profession. Roland Altenburger has been a co-owner of LUZI fragrance compounds since 1 January 2015, the date on which Dr. Rolf Altenburger transferred a 30% share of the company to each of his two children.
In his private life, Roland Altenburger is a passionate sportsman. He was a member of the Swiss national rowing team from 2005 to 2008. He was Swiss champion twelve times, student world champion and competed in the final of the Rowing World Cup with the national team.
Internationalisation and sustainable growth strategy
Jürg Koller, who served as CEO of LUZI since 1999, intensively pursued the company's internationalisation, automation and professionalisation. Today, LUZI fragrance compounds has an international structure. In addition to its own sales offices in Europe, Latin America and Asia, a branch office was opened in Malaysia in 2016, which boasts an ultra-modern production facility and a development and sales unit. Due to the company's growth and rising demand for its services, the number of employees increased in the past few years from 43 (1999) to more than 140. Thanks to its investments in additional staff and modern production facilities, LUZI successfully tripled its sales from almost CHF 17 million in 1999 to more than CHF 50 million in 2018. "We are looking ahead and will continue to pursue the company's internationalisation and a sustainable growth strategy," says Roland Altenburger, CEO Switzerland. Apart from opening additional sales offices in Africa and the Middle East, the company is also planning to build a new Swiss headquarters.
