JOB DESCRIPTION

The Safety Coordinator is responsible for supporting and maintaining workplace safety, health, and regulatory compliance within LUZI Malaysia's manufacturing operations.

The role ensures compliance with Malaysian Occupational Safety and Health requirements and supports the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of LUZI's Integrated Management System (IMS), particularly ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management System.

The Safety Officer will work closely with all departments to promote a strong safety culture and ensure a safe and healthy working environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure compliance with Malaysian Occupational Safety & Health (OSH) legislation, environmental regulations, and other applicable statutory requirements.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities (e.g., DOSH, DOE, BOMBA) and maintain all statutory records, permits, licenses, and compliance documentation.
  • Conduct and maintain workplace risk assessments including HIRARC, and support CHRA, Noise Risk Assessment (NRA), and Ergonomic Risk Assessment (ERA) activities.
  • Identify workplace hazards and develop, implement, and monitor preventive and corrective control measures to minimize risks.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions; prepare reports and ensure effective closure of corrective actions.
  • Perform routine workplace inspections, audits, and safety monitoring to ensure compliance with safety procedures, safe work practices, and PPE requirements.
  • Coordinate contractor safety management and monitor safety performance during maintenance, construction, and project-related activities.
  • Organize and facilitate safety training, awareness programs, emergency response exercises, first aid initiatives, and employee engagement activities to cultivate a strong safety culture.
  • Support emergency preparedness and response activities, including maintaining the Emergency Response Plan (ERP), coordinating drills, and ensuring emergency equipment readiness.
  • Support the implementation, maintenance, and continual improvement of the Integrated Management System (IMS), including ISO 45001 requirements, audit participation, documentation management, and timely closure of audit findings

WHAT WE EXPECT

  • Diploma or Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline
  • Minimum 2–5 years of safety experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, with knowledge of Malaysian OSH regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Hands-on experience in ISO 45001 implementation, HIRARC, incident investigations, workplace inspections, and safety audits.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, report writing, communication, and training skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Registered Safety & Health Officer (SHO), DOSH Green Book holder, and experience in chemical manufacturing or Integrated Management Systems (IMS) are an added advantage.
